"It was a typical Springfield Mile. Drafting battle, chess match, I guess I got Kinged. Kevin Atherton ran a really smart race, in the last five laps, he showed his head and upped the pace, and the rest of us weren't able to hang with him. On the last lap, he cut an absolutely perfect lap to win the race. Kevin smoked it off into three, and I had caught his draft, and that brought me up side-by-side with Parker and we were in a fight for position going into three. That allowed Kevin to gap us a little bit. Scott was able to get on around me and we came up short at the line. Had I just set sail behind Scott, Scott might have won the race. Had I been a little bit more forceful, I might have been able to come close to Kevin. Either way, Kevin was going to win that thing. Scotty gave a good effort to try and win the event, and came up a little bit short. I had a pretty good seat watching it all in third. We were in the hunt to win, we just didn't have it dialed in for that particular day. We'll go on down the road and work on the next one."
Carr is first to realize that Springfield is as much all-out speed as it is being in the right place at the right time. This time, he missed the win, but next time...The next event is a brand new venue, a short track in Plymouth, WI.
