Carr Wins Controversial Lima Half-Mile.

Lima. The name conjures up some of the great battles in dirt track, and its history is as deep as the cushion on a good night. The crushed limestone, or 'pea gravel' surface is infamous, and Scott Parker is a pea gravel expert. Carr took the win over his rival, but controversy plagued the result when a red flag flew with Parker leading Carr by three bike lengths with one lap to go. Officials restarted the race, mandating a five-lap restart per the AMA rulebook. Chris and Kenny T. aced the five-lap setup and won the event. Parker was not a happy boy.

"Controversy, controversy, controversy. That was one where people didn't like the fact that I won, especially in Parker Country. We had a red flag come out as we were going to receive the white flag, red flag came out instead because of a downed rider. Under the rules set forth by the AMA, they like to finish races under a checkered flag, and not under a caution. A restart was mandated at a five-lap minimum, which was in the rulebook as well.

"We made a change for the five-lapper, put a different tire on the rear of the motorcycle, and we went out and got a good start, passed Scotty on the first lap, and split. Not too many people were happy about it. That's part of the game. They said, 'line up boys, lets go race,' and I did my job. I lined up, I went racing, and I won. End of story."

Carr now leads Parker by 22 points as the team heads for Indy for another chess match on the mile oval..
