3/3-11/99

Five Wins on the week, fifth in the Grand National sum up an excellent Bike Week for Chris.

"Speed Week down in Daytona went real well for us. Things got off to a great start with a pair of double wins at Savannah and the Saturday night at Volusia. We won our share of races early on in the week, and then when it came time for the short tracks, we struggled a little bit on Friday night, but things came around for us for the night of the Grand National, the season opener of the U.S. Flat Track Championships. We came away with a fifth place, and anytime you can finish a top five at a Daytona short track, you've got your season off to a pretty good start. We were real pleased with that result. Obviously we would have like to been in better contention to win, but the dice just didn't roll our way that night. That's half the game at that particular race, so we'll take our fifth and look forward to the next race on the AMA schedule at Harrington, DE on May 20. We feel good going into that track that we'll do well. We finished second the last couple of years and look forward to maybe making it first this year.

"I still think Rich King and Will Davis are going to be the guys to beat. Bigelow seemed to ride pretty good down there, so he could be a surprise later on in the year. But I expect when it comes to push and shove that Davis and King are going to be the guys to beat."
