Rain-out Gives Each Rider One Point.
A rain-out in Ft. Worth left everyone involved with a single point, no matter where they finished. Chris managed to win the second heat, which, coincidentally enough, was the second-fastest heat of the evening as the track slowly deteriorated.
When heavy rains made the rest of the event impossible, the main was cancelled and one point was awarded to each rider who would have made the main. Following are Carr's comments on the portion of the program that did run.
"Rain, rain, go away. Things started off a little slow for is, we weren't overly quick in practice, but we made a few changes and towards the end of it, things started coming around. In my heat race, it seemed like I had the front row of a National with Kopp, and King, and Springer, and the rest of the guys, so we knew we had our hands full. They were taking the top five to the main event because they were trying to accelerate the program so we could get the main event in. I got the holeshot like I wanted, and the bike worked good. We had pretty good pace going and nobody really challenged me for the lead the entire race, so it went as good as you could expect.
"We were ready for the main event, and Mother Nature wasn't ready to let us ride. She kept spittin' on us and spittin' on us, and finally she just opened the flood gates on us and said we could go home for the day. And that was the end of it."
Are you looking forward the the brand new venue at the Springfield TT?
"We're always looking forward to a TT, although ones that are man-made are a little bit different than the natural terrain ones like you get at Peoria or Boise, Idaho, or places like that, but I'm sure it's going to be fun, and it's certainly going to be different for everybody on the series. Having not had to run a TT like this in a long time, I think it's going to be a lot of fun for everybody. I look forward to it."
