Carr got the holeshot and led the first third of the race, but hard charging Kenny Coolbeth and teammate Joe Kopp slid past to relegate Chris to third.
Kopp gained a few points on Carr in the championship, but 14 rounds remain, plenty of time to even it up.
"I got a really good start, as good as you could expect, with a holeshot, and ran the first 8 or 10 laps in the lead. I was starting to feel a little pressure behind me with Coolbeth, and he got a good run on me after I made a mistake coming off of turn two and went on by me going into turn three around lap ten. I pretty much stayed with him after that, he got away from me, I'd gain a little bit back, he'd get away, I'd get a little bit back. Kopp was hot on my tail and he found a way by me and those guys kind of inched away. They were just a little bit better than we were.
" We were really good early in the race, and late in the race, it seemed like our setup went away with the changing of the racetrack. Some days go like that - we were set up good for the beginning, but not the end.
How was the track?
" The track was pretty much one-line through practice and qualifying, then as the sun went down, they put a little water on it before the heat races. The racing surfaced widened up a little bit - still, even with the wider racing surface. It was a little tougher to pass when it came to those guys running about the same speed. It was hard to be creative and get by a guy. It was pretty much one fast line and a guy could block most of it if he was real crafty. I was pretty crafty for about ten laps, then ran out of it, I guess."
