Davis Tough, but Carr Takes Back Championship Points Lead at Harrington

After an eventful race at Charlotte last weekend, the H-D of Sacramento team hoped to have a smoother time of it at the pea-gravel cushion half-mile in Harrington, Delaware this past Saturday night. Things went well for Chris, but the race was interrupted twice for crashes by other riders, one for Kenny Coolbeth, who injured both hands, and one for championship rival Joe Kopp, who crashed whilst on the heels of Carr and was forced to restart from the back.

Will Davis was hot once again, taking his second straight win, but Chris took back the points lead by bringing his XR750 home second. Kopp finished an impressive sixth to stay within four points as the crew travels just around the corner to Hagerstown, Maryland this Saturday night.

"It went pretty good, all things considered. We were shooting to win the race - that's what we had come there to do - but we just didn't really have anything for Will Davis. He was hooked up and going forward. I could run probably the same pace on the same line as him, but I wouldn't have been able to see after about four laps. It seemed like there was one real good line early in the race, and he had it covered.

"Got going early, and Coolbeth had crashed. They had to haul him off to the hospital, but I hear he's doing okay, other than some broken hands. We got going again, the second start, and Will was checking out again, and Kopp had caught up to me. We were kind of dicing pretty close and all of a sudden the red lights flashed on. I looked back and there was no Joe Kopp. He had slid out between three and four. So he had to restart from the back. We got going, and I got by Will after that restart - got by him once - and then he got right back by me, and he pretty much had us covered.

"We brought her home second. It was a good night, got the point lead back. Looking forward to Hagerstown this weekend."
