Carr once again led the series regulars home on this man-made TT course, utilizing Rotax power after his very quick VOR motor let go in practice. With his finish in front of all the other title contenders, Carr and the Ford QCCPOV team crept up to third in the standings, just five points back of new leader Kevin Varnes.
"I won the non-Hayden race, and I won the flat track race - those guys were all on converted motocrossers. We tried the VOR in practice, and it was working pretty good, but then she made chicken bones out of the inside of the motor. We don't know exactly what happened there, but she was done for the night.
"So we hopped on the bike that we had finished third on last year and we made it fairly competitive for about ten laps, but I really had to ride pretty hard and aggressively on that. The motocross bikes just seemed to work better around that track. We did the best we could, and we got fourth, so that's the way it goes."
