Carr Wins Second Straight in Iowa
Chris Carr put in a dominating performance at the inaugural running of the Farley Half-Mile in eastern Iowa. After winning his scratch heat and his qualifying heat and sitting on pole for the main event, Carr ran away and hid from the rest of the field in the final, taking his fourth victory of 2004 and increasing his point lead to 29.
With just two days of rest, the racers and teams meet again in Rapid City, South Dakota for another half-mile contest on Tuesday.
"Well, Farley went about as good as we could have expected. We had a real good run with Rich King in my scratch heat, and I was able to make a pass on him on the last lap, and from that point on, we just kept making the right changes to the bike, and we got a great start in the heat race and led that wire-to-wire.
"The same for the main event. It was probably a boring race for the fans, although I heard they had a great race for second. We're just ready to see if we can do it again tomorrow night in Rapid City."
