"Today was absolutely unbelievable," said an elated Carr. "BUB Enterprises, the Ford Quality Checked Certified Pre-owned program and I made history today. And more amazing than that is this bike still has a lot left in 'er. I can't wait to get back out there again - if need be - for another couple passes."
Carr left the Bonneville Salt Flats (Utah) staging area today, SPEED helicopters with TV cameras mounted on them in tow, and dialed the Ford Quality Checked-backed BUB streamliner up to 354 mph - shattering the previous record set this past Sunday on the opening day of the FIM/AMA Sports - International Motorcycle Speed Trials by BUB. The BUB/Ford QC team then re-grouped and got Carr back out well within the two hour limit, and his second pass was recorded at 346 mph, giving him a two run average speed of 350.8 mph.
"We were standing there watching Chris go by and just couldn't believe it," said Ford Quality Checked Program Manger Mike Dennis. "Chris came out and smoked everybody."
Dennis said that Carr, the seven-time AMA Ford Quality Checked Flat Track Champion, was also recognized by the rest of the competitors and given a nice round of applause at the pre-race riders meeting.
The FIM/AMA Sports - International Motorcycle Speed Trials by BUB continues through Sept. 7. For more info on the event, check out www.speedtrialsbybub.com
