Nominated by Dave Campos, whose world motorcycle land speed record was broke by Carr this past year (350.8 mph at Bonneville, officially recognized by FIM on September 7, 2006), Carr was also cited for his seven AMA Grand National titles, 75 race wins and the amazing amount of time and effort he gives back to the motorcycle industry.
"To be nominated by Dave Campos is quite an honor in itself," said Carr, 40, who joins fellow flat trackers Scotty Parker and Jay Springsteen among other notables in the Sturgis Motorcycle Hall of Fame. "The Sturgis Bike Rally and races started in the 1930s, so I'm in some fairly elite company here. I'm looking forward to this evening."
Unfortunately, Carr won't be able to hang around and check out all the happenings in Sturgis the rest of the week/weekend as he's got to get over to Castle Rock Race Track (Wash.) for a AMA/Ford Quality Checked Flat Track Championship Singles class double header.
Carr, who was 2nd in the Castle Rock TT and 4th in the short track event last year is looking forward to getting back into some Singles class racing. "Yeah, I'm not as far back in the Singles points as I am in the Twins," he said with laugh.
